M2Guard – Change Notes V1.0.3

The following changes have been implemented in the latest update.

Client Integrity Hardening & Advanced Injection Block

Vectored Exception Handler (VEH) Hook
• A VEH-based monitoring mechanism has been integrated into the client-side protection layer to detect DLL injection attempts at memory level.
• Next-generation injectors manipulating the LoadLibrary chain are now detected in real time.

Heuristic Memory Scan
• Added a heuristic_scanner module that performs periodic signature scans in game memory.
• Remnants left by unknown cheat engines and modified variants are now detected and reported instantly.

Kernel Callback Optimization
• Reduced processing time for kernel callbacks communicating with the server by approximately 20%, minimizing micro-stutters during intensive PvP combat.

Update Delivery
• All updates are distributed through the API system.
• No manual DLL download or installation is required on the client side.

M2Guard continues to provide a more stable, fair, and secure environment for Metin2 private servers.

M2Guard – Change Notes v1.5

Dear users,

The following updates and improvements have been implemented in M2Guard v1.5:

Python Cheat Detection

• Added an advanced analysis engine for detecting Python-based cheat tools such as PyInjector, Pymem, ctypes injection, and similar methods.
• Detection system now covers 4 primary categories:
  • Process Injection
  • Memory Tampering
  • Automation Cheats
  • Suspicious Tooling
• Implemented a corroboration-based validation system. Python detection alone is not considered sufficient evidence; additional strong indicators are required before triggering enforcement.

Automatic Customer Integration Service

• Added support for uploading the following source files directly through the admin panel:
  • PythonPlayer.cpp
  • UserInterface.cpp
  • PythonNetworkStreamPhaseGame.cpp
• The system automatically generates and provides a fully patched bundle.
• The patcher now automatically injects:
  • m2_guard_loader.h include
  • InitializeMandatory / Shutdown
  • UpdatePlayerIdentity
  • ReportMoveSpeed
  • ReportAttackSpeed
  • ReportAttackInterval calls
• Auto Hunt state flag integration has also been automated. The customer's auto hunt toggle variable is detected automatically, and corresponding SetGameFlag calls are injected into all relevant state transition points.

License & API Key Security

• License and API keys are now secured using bcrypt hashing.
• Legacy SHA256 hashes remain supported for backward compatibility and are automatically upgraded upon first verification.
• Added prefix-based fast lookup for API key validation. Instead of iterating through all database entries, the system now performs pre-filtering using the first 8 characters of the API key.
• Added nonce + timestamp protection to the license validation system to prevent replay attacks.

All updates are delivered directly through the API. No additional DLL download or manual installation is required on the client side.

M2Guard – Detection & Accuracy Update (v1.6)​

Dear users,

The following improvements have been implemented in M2Guard v1.6:

False Positive Reduction​

• HWID spoof detection has been reworked to prevent false flags on modern PCs, NVMe SSDs, OEM motherboards, laptops, and virtual machines.
• HWID spoofing is now triggered only when actual spoofing evidence is present, such as an active spoofing tool or suspicious driver activity.
• Normal Windows, Edge, and Chromium background activity is now filtered more accurately.
• System-owned handles, IPC objects, and browser-related activity no longer generate unnecessary tamper alerts.
• Detection logs are now cleaner, easier to review, and less likely to distract server owners with harmless system behavior.

Stronger Cheat Detection​

• Machine-perfect attack timing detection has been added.
• Attack actions are now measured with sub-millisecond precision, allowing M2Guard to identify bots that operate with inhumanly consistent timing.
• This system operates independently from existing attack-speed limit checks.
• Packet bot fingerprinting has been improved. When a third-party tool sends game packets, M2Guard can now identify the actual module responsible for the packet call.
• Cheats attempting to hide behind legitimate file names can no longer rely on file name spoofing alone.
• Injected or fileless packet callers are now classified with the highest confidence level.
• Known Metin2 cheat and bot tools can now be detected through window signature analysis.
• The cheat-tool signature database can be expanded rapidly as new tools emerge.

Ban Evasion Correlation​

• Ban evasion detection has been improved.
• When a spoofing tool is detected together with repeated hardware ID changes originating from the same source, M2Guard now classifies the behavior as deliberate ban evasion.
• Such cases are weighted more heavily and processed with a higher confidence level.

Action Required​

Game servers must update to the latest client build.

The hosted detection backend has already been updated.
